Pictures from Dan Deacon, Xbxrx, and Juiceboxxx at The Echoplex 12/1/11. One of the funnest shows I’ve done yet. Each performance had something crazy happen and was visual entertaining. Juiceboxxx put on for what I thought to be a comedic performance, bringing fans on stage, interacting with the audience, and even at one point getting into a fight with someone in the crowd, which I still don’t know was fake or not. He’s a very good entertainer. Xbxrx started out dramatic and ended dramatic, with the bassists playing bass with his beard, the drummer doing some sort of leg exercise on the ground and stopping off into the audience to join the circle pit, and the lead singer jumping onto and climbing up one of the side railings while singing at the same time, pretty impressive. They were joined by Dan Deacon on drums for one song and at the same time brought out some dress up characters to dance a long with them. They ended the show by building a tower out of their instruments and throwing a symbol straight into it…creative. Last to play was Dan Deacon and from what I was suspecting he played on the ground, which I was scared of because I thought maybe I wouldn’t be able to get close enough to get a good shot, but I ended up being right next to him the whole time, pretty cool. He played mostly old songs which I was happy about compared to the last show I saw at FYF, where he played his new stuff which is his rendition of dubstep… not that into. He ended up playing maybe one of his ‘dubstep’ songs when doing his usual audience participation acts with tag in dance circle, follow the leader, and a tag in running marathon through the crowd. Everyone in the place went crazy for Deacon, I couldn’t see one person not dancing.
